Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG) has condoled with the immediate family, royal lineage, and the entire people of Ogbomoso on the passing of His Royal Majesty, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi, Ajagungbade III, whose death was announced early today.

ARG in a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Kunle Famoriyo, paid glowing tribute to the late monarch for what it described as ‘a life well spent’ and added that the late monarch was a rare titan that exemplified Yoruba kingship by all standards, intents, and purposes.

The statement reads: "These days, we hear more about kings and less about their domains. During the lifetime of the late Soun, we heard more about the progress and development of Ogbomoso more than we heard about the king. He lived for the development and progress of his domain and little wonder God rewarded his effort with noble achievements that propelled Ogbomoso to limelight."ARG said Soun Ajagungbade III was an example of "how to push and fight for development without being adversarial and confrontational. Yet, he was no less effective in achieving his kingly pursuits."

"His death is a great loss to Yoruba traditional institution but we are happy that he was a king who came, who saw, and who conquered, thereby leaving behind a wealth of wisdom for the younger generations."
